Dorr Township Library

Date: October 15, 2018

MINUTES

Meeting was called to order at 7:03 pm by Rachel Vote, President.

 

Pledge of Allegiance:  Was said.

 

Roll Call: Present-  Rachel Vote, Marcia Brock, Sara Rydman, Tara McMillin, Jennifer Klug Absent- None. Elyshia Schafer, Library Director, was also present. No visitors.

 

Approval of the Agenda:  Vote motioned to approve the agenda, seconded by Rydman. All yes, motion carried.

 

Approval of the Minutes: Vote motioned to approve the September 18, 2018 minutes, seconded by Klug. All yes, motion carried.

 

Treasurer’s Report:  Rydman motioned to receive and file the second quarter 2018 Treasurer’s report, seconded by Brock. All yes, motion carried. Rydman motioned, seconded by Brock, to pay the September 2018 credit card bill in the amount of $1,569.74. All yes, motion carried.

 

Public Comment: None.

 

Director’s Report: Schafer provided a report of information about library programming and events during the preceding month and upcoming events. She also provided reports on meetings attended by the Director, grant applications, building issues, and ongoing library functioning.

  • Director Schafer requested transfer of $500.00 from AV Materials budget to Audit fee line item in budget due to audit fee increase. Vote motioned to approve funds transfer, seconded by Klug.  All yes, motion carried.
  • Staff Nicole will return from maternity leave in November and resume children’s story time and zooming. Staff Katie attended a MeL seminar in July and requested a MeL workshop for the library. MeL workshop training will be done October 25, 2018 for library staff.
  • November/December newsletter is on the website. Within a week most of the crafts workshops were filled.  Our final “Pushing the Limits” grant concluded with a master gardener seminar in September and cheesemaking in October.
  • October 4, 2018 volunteers from Perrigo Corp assisted the staff to assemble three large shelving units acquired free by our director and rearrange some areas in the library to allow visual access from the library desk to the west entrance. Several library family members completed this task afterhours.  Director Schafer is completing a Legacy Grant application for funding to convert the west entrance to handicapped accessible. 
  • Allegan County Community Foundation is offering a grant, “Love Your Hometown” in 2019. The library plans to apply.

 

Township Board Meeting: The next meeting is October 25, 2018. Rydman will attend this meeting. Rydman attended the previous meeting and provided a 3-minute summary of current events and programming.

 

Committee Reports:

  1. Dorr Business Association Meeting: DBA meetings are held the third Wednesday of each month.  Rydman will attend this meeting on behalf of the library Wednesday October 17, 2018, 4:00 pm at 5 Lakes Brewing in Dorr.

NEW BUSINESS:

  1. New Trustee Interview – Closed meeting to interview prospective trustee at 7:31 pm.
  2. Audit Review – Library director Schafer sent additional questions to the auditors.  Postpone Audit Review until November 19, 2018 meeting.

 

Adjournment:  Vote motioned, Klug seconded to adjourn at 8:15 pm. All yes.  Motion carried.

 

Next regular meeting: Monday November 19, 2018 at 7:00 p.m. at the library.
