MEETING

Dorr Township Library

Date: November 10, 2014

6:30 P.M.

MINUTES

Meeting was called to order at 6:36pm by Peggy Otto, President.

Roll Call: Present- Tara Reece, Peggy Otto, Louis Harnish, Barbara Gibson, Ken Huizinga, Rachel Vote. Absent- None. Natalie Bazan, Library Director, was also present. Two visitors.

Approval of the Agenda: Otto amended the agenda to add a line item to New Business entitled “Student Guide”. Gibson motioned to approve the amended agenda; seconded by Vote. All yes, motioned carried.

Approval of the Minutes: Motioned to approve the October 2014 Minutes by Vote, seconded by Gibson. All yes, motion carried.

Treasurer’s Report: Reece motioned to receive and file the October 2014 Treasurer’s report, seconded by Huizinga. All yes, motion carried. Reece motioned, Gibson seconded to pay the old current credit card bill in the amount of $207.38. Five yes, one opposed (Vote). The new credit card carries a balance of $3473.88. Reece motioned, seconded by Gibson, to pay the new credit card bill in the amount of $3473.88. All yes, motion carried.

Public Comment: Comments from the public were heard.

Director’s Report: Bazan provided information about library programming and events during the preceding month and upcoming events. She also provided reports on meetings attended, grant applications, building issues, and ongoing library functioning.  The library will be closed on November 27-28 for Thanksgiving. In October we circulated 4798 items, which is an increase of about 600 items over September.  This is also more than we circulated last October. 

Township Board Meeting: The next meeting is November 24, 2014. Otto will attend this meeting. Bazan attended the previous meeting and provided a three-minute update on library events and programming.

Committee Reports: Personnel Committee will be working on Director’s Annual Review. There will also be a staff meeting on December 6, 2014 at 9am.

OLD BUSINESS:

1.        Director’s Review: Director Evaluations due to Gibson by November 24^th.

2.        Student Guide: Otto and Bazan created a Student Guide for Dorr Township Board Meetings for students who come to our Board meetings for their government courses. This will continue to be revised and then posted on the website for student use.

NEW BUSINESS:

1.        Invitation from Hopkins Library Board to Attend December 9, 2014 Meeting: In the interest of continued collegiality, the Hopkins Library Board invited the Dorr Township Library Board to their December Board meeting for a cookie exchange on December 9, 2014 at 7pm.

2.        State Aid Report: Bazan submitted the State Aid Report. 

3.        Holiday Closures 2015: The library will be closed on January 1, 2015; April 3-5, 2015; May 23-25, 2015; July 3, 2015; July 4, 2015; September 5-7, 2015; November 26-27, 2015; December 24-26, 2015; December 31, 2015. 

Adjournment: Huizinga motioned, Harnish seconded to adjourn at 8:11pm. All yes.
