Date: December 2, 2019

MINUTES
Meeting was called to order at 7:03 pm by Rachel Vote, President.
Roll Call: Present- Rachel Vote, Carrie Brooks, Marcia Brock, Sara Rydman, Tara McMillin, Jennifer Klug Absent- None. Elyshia Hoekstra, Library Director, was also present. 7 visitors.
Approval of the Agenda: Vote motioned to approve the amended special meeting agenda, seconded by Brooks. All yes, motion carried.
Public Comment: None.
NEW BUSINESS:
- YuGiOh Meeting – Who runs the meeting? Are they paid personnel?
Meeting runs Friday evenings. Volunteer runs the meeting.
- Consider March 2020 for millage attempt.
Director Hoekstra provided corrected/revised funding for the library for the fiscal year 2020-2021 to the board.
- November 18, 2019 meeting – savings 142,000 corrected to 179,545.00
- Corrected/revised funding to include eligible penal fines, township appropriation and state aid now estimated at
242,945.00
Board’s concern was the cost of approx. 3,000.00 for the March 2020 ballot. No ballot cost for August and November 2020.
- Friends of the Dorr Library – Megan Helms, friends’ group is looking for donations for ballot costs.
- Hoekstra said Gun Lake Casino may contribute but not sure.
- Board member Brooks said the Tribe makes these decisions and gave the director a contact name and number to address their next meeting for possible funding.
- Rydman told Township Board at November 21, 20019 meeting of public interest for library millage of .6 mil on the March ballot. Asked board their thoughts if the cost in March for the library be a negative impact. Some members had heard negative comments about the cost for the August 2019 millage.
When is the deadline to get on the March ballot?
- Deadline is Tuesday December 17, 2019. Secretary must sign. Rydman will be absent for the December meeting. Hoekstra said an interim secretary can be voted in at the December meeting and sign.
- McMillin requested all ballot and informational language be proofread for correctness.
Friends of the Library is ready to start the campaign. Yes Campaign. Dorr to Lifelong Learning is available.
- Rydman requested one or the other group to Chair the campaign. The March ballot is 3 months away with Christmas and New Years to get through. This campaign needs many Lots to do with little time.
Vote motioned to approve the Dorr Township Library Millage to be placed on the March 2020 ballot, seconded by Brooks.
Roll call vote: Vote-yes, Klug-yes, Rydman-yes, Brock-yes, Brook-yes, McMillin-Yes. All Yes, motioned carried.
Vote motioned to approve Director Hoekstra to contact lawyer for ballot language, seconded by Klug. All yes, motioned carried.
Adjournment: Vote motioned, Klug seconded to adjourn at 7:53 pm. All yes. Motion carried.
Next regular meeting: Monday December 16, 2019 at 7:00 p.m. at the library.
